Nuclear may have become a household word, but few people actually know what it is all about. People tend to associate nuclear not with its peaceful uses, but with ill-founded scare stories about radioactive death clouds and cancer. Nuclear power plant and nuclear bomb are fundamentally designed differently. Nuclear bomb are designed to explode while nuclear power plant are designed to contain radiation. In the 50 years of using nuclear for commercial uses, the number of people who died or affected by radiation is too low compared to the number of people who died everyday from car accidents.
